claudine wong in for tory campbell. >>> topping our news at this hour we are learning more about that fatal officer-involved shooting in walnut creek, officers responded to the apartments on creekside drive and we are there live with new information on this investigation. >> reporter: the incident actually happened further back in the apartment complex but you can see they still have a large area roped off with crime tape while though continue to process the scene. walnut creek police say this started with a panicked 911 call at 3:15 this morning. they say they could hear screaming in the background, officers responded to a unit at the diablo point apartments where they were met by an armed man. they are giving few details about what happened next only that they felt threatened and fired their weapons and the man died at the scene. they are not saying what the relationship is between them but they say nobody else is at large. >> this is an incident connected there and no one else has any reason to feel unsafe. >> the officers are on paid leave, they are conducting an investigation. live in

clark is off today. >> yes, he is. >> good morning. i'm pam cook. tori campbell is also off. it's monday, december 24th. >>> we're following developing news out of marin county this morning where search-and-rescue teams are about to search for a missing man. alex savidge has more on how a traffic stop turned into a much larger situation. alex? >> reporter: well, now that the sun is coming up, the team is going to resume searching for this team, somewhere in the cordova creek. the man is suspected of drunk driving and ran from officers during a traffic stop. it happened earlier in the morning. he jumped into the creek in an area where the water is moving very quickly. authorities put a boat in the water right away to search the bas ofthe creek but there was no sign of the man. this all began after midnight when ross police made a dui stop on the man's car near sir francis drake and college. but during the field sobriety test, this man took off running from officers. officers watched him go in the creek and eventually lost sight of him. >> they followed for about 100 yards trying to encour
